The Making of the Onyx Inlay Z Dining Set

The Z-pedestal is not a leg arrangement — it is a single fabricated sculpture in dark espresso burl, rising from a gold platform to carry a white marble slab. The onyx inlay grooves running the length of the top are a subtle, deliberate signature that rewards a second look.

Three parallel onyx inlay lines run the full length of the white marble top — precision stone cutting and inlaying, polished flush with the slab surface to create a refined, almost hidden signature detail. ::

The Z Crossing Point

Two diagonal planes meet at the Z-pedestal's centre intersection — the most structurally and aesthetically critical point; precision joinery here determines whether the whole form reads as deliberate sculpture or uncertain structure. ::

Engineering a Single Support

A single Z-pedestal carrying a heavy marble slab requires careful structural calculation at the crossing joint — the entire weight of the top is channelled through one intersection before meeting the gold platform below.
