Delivery Policy
Bespoke furniture takes time. This policy explains how long delivery takes, what to expect at each stage, and what we'll need from you to bring your piece home.
Every piece we make at Austins is built to order — one project at a time, by hand, using materials selected specifically for your home. That care is what gives our furniture its character, and it's also why our timelines are different from off-the-shelf retailers.
This policy explains the full delivery journey from the moment you approve your design to the day your furniture is installed in your home.
1. Standard Delivery Timeline
Delivery of bespoke Austins furniture typically takes 6 to 8 weeks from the date of design approval and advance payment. This window covers the entire process — conceptualization, material procurement, fabrication, quality assurance, and final delivery to your space.
For larger or more complex projects (full home interiors, oversized sofas, or custom soft furnishings), the timeline may extend up to 120 days. Your project head will share a precise schedule once your order is confirmed.
Project milestones at a glance
- Design Approval: Initial consultation, design concepts, client feedback, and approval of the preferred direction.
- Material Selection: Collaborative choice of leather, fabric, wood, and finishes; finalization of detailed drawings.
- Site Inspection & Final Approval: On-site dimension verification by our project head and technical team.
- Fabrication & Delivery Planning: Production, quality checks, and logistics coordination.
- Delivery & Installation: Transportation to your space and professional installation.
2. Pre-Delivery Site Preparation
To ensure your furniture is installed safely and looks its best, we ask that the following be in place before our team arrives:
- Clean and dust-free site: Please ensure the installation area is thoroughly cleaned. Dust and debris can damage upholstery and finishes during installation.
- Clear pathways: Remove obstacles or clutter so our installation team has easy access from the entry point to the installation area.
- Access to utilities: If the furniture requires connections to power outlets or other utilities, ensure these are accessible and operational.
- Installation window: Please allow at least 2 days for unloading and installation, especially for larger pieces or full-home projects.
3. Site Photos and Videos
Clients are requested to share all site photographs and videos at least 15 days prior to the scheduled delivery date. This allows us to plan truck booking, lift access, and labour requirements efficiently.
Should there be any change in site conditions between approval and delivery — construction work, modified entry points, or any structural changes — please notify our team at least one month in advance.
4. Logistics and Transportation
Bespoke furniture often demands specialized handling. Here is how we manage logistics:
- Sites above the 8th floor: All materials will be transported through the service lift. Where the lift is inadequate in size, the product will be executed and assembled in parts to allow safe transport.
- Storage beds: All storage beds are designed and constructed in separate parts, with final assembly carried out at your site.
- Oversized furniture: Pieces exceeding 8 feet in size are crafted in multiple sections to facilitate handling and transportation.
- Stone tops: Stone tops exceeding 5 feet are the client's responsibility and must be handled on-site by their designated agencies, owing to the risk of transit damage.
- Lift slot reservation: Clients are requested to reserve specific lift slots in advance to ensure a smooth unloading process at building entry.
- Crane delivery: If furniture cannot be loaded via stairs or elevator, it will be lifted via crane. Prior notification will be given to the client, and associated charges will be borne by the client.
- Railing & façade elements: If our team advises against installing railings or façade elements before delivery, please follow that advice. Installation against recommendation will incur additional handling charges.
5. Payment Before Delivery
Full payment must be received at least 15 days before the scheduled delivery date. For out-of-town commitments, travel and logistics arrangements are confirmed only after complete payment has been realized.
We strive to provide accurate lead times and will notify you promptly of any unforeseen complications that may affect your delivery date.
6. After Installation
- Timely installation: Once delivered, furniture should be installed promptly. Prolonged storage in packaging may lead to product damage that is not covered under warranty.
- Protect installed pieces: Ensure our products remain free from damage caused by other agencies (painters, electricians, contractors) working on the site after installation.
- Packaging disposal: Please provide space within the premises for our team to leave packaging materials. We are unable to take responsibility for packaging materials once our team has left the site.
- Local labour: In locations where our regular labour is unavailable, we may source local labour. In some cases, the client may be requested to arrange local labour, with associated costs covered by Austins.
7. Warehousing for Delayed Deliveries
If your site is not ready to receive furniture on the agreed delivery date, Austins will retain the completed items free of charge for 15 days following the original delivery date. After this grace period, a warehousing fee of Rs. 2,000 per day applies, owing to constraints in our production stocking space.
8. Holidays Affecting Delivery
Deliveries scheduled around the following holidays will be rescheduled in consultation with the client:
- Dasara
- Ganesh Chaturthi
- Diwali
- Any unforeseen circumstances such as strikes or natural calamities
9. Out-of-Bangalore Deliveries
Austins delivers across India. For projects outside Bangalore, please note:
- An additional 7 days is allocated for transit beyond the agreed delivery date.
- Travel arrangements for our installation team are confirmed only after full payment is received.
- Hardware replacement during the warranty period is covered, but the cost of uninstallation and re-installation labour outside Bangalore is not borne by Austins. We provide remote guidance to local labour through video or phone instructions.
- Any subsequent labour for remedial work at out-of-Bangalore sites is chargeable.
10. Damage on Delivery
Each piece is inspected for quality before it leaves our workshop. On delivery, we ask that you inspect the furniture in the presence of our installation team. Any damage must be reported immediately upon delivery — once the receiving party has accepted and signed off, we are unable to take responsibility for non-structural damage that may occur thereafter.
11. Final Words
A bespoke piece is the result of many small decisions — a swatch chosen, a curve adjusted, a stitch perfected. The 6-to-8-week wait isn't a delay; it's the reason your sofa, bed, or dining table will feel uniquely yours from the very first day.
If you ever have a question about where your piece is in the process, your dedicated project head at Austins is just a call away. We'd rather you ask than wonder.
