The Making of the Eve Sofa

The Eve was born from a conversation between two traditions. The Indian deewan's low, wide platform and a contemporary minimal wood frame found each other in this piece — dark espresso and cream, close to the ground, simple yet sophisticated.
Espresso Wood & Cream Fabric
Dark espresso lacquered hardwood in a smooth semi-gloss finish, contrasted with plain cream woven fabric cushions. The tonal juxtaposition is stark and deliberate — neither material needs ornamentation. ::
One-Piece Frame Joinery
The all-in-one rectangular frame — arms, back structure, and legs as a single continuous unit — requires precise mortise-and-tenon joinery at every corner, maintaining perfect right angles under seating load without visible hardware. ::
Low Seat Engineering
Very low seating height places unique structural demands on the thick boxy legs and their join to the platform base. The frame must remain completely rigid when occupants shift weight across the wide deewan seat.
