Siena Dining Chair — Austins Siena Dining Chair - Austins

The frame is the ornament. The stretcher is the signature. The Siena chair shows every joint and holds every glance — Bangalore-made mid-century confidence.

A chair that hides its frame is a chair that doesn't trust its frame. The Siena exposes every joint — the arm-to-back connection, the cross-stretcher beneath the seat, the flat wide arm rails. The dark graphite stain against the cream linen is high-contrast by design: I wanted the structural geometry to read like a drawing. The small lumbar pad is the only concession to softness in what is otherwise an exercise in the beauty of visible engineering.

The Making of the Siena Dining Chair

Designed by Harsha

In our Bangalore workshop, the Siena begins with the frame — dark graphite solid wood, jointed and finished to the same standard as the visible upholstered surface above it. The H-stretcher is fitted for structural rigidity and visual impact equally. Cream fabric pads are then made to sit flush within the wooden rails without gap or overhang — a tolerance that demands precise pad-making from our upholsterers.

The Graphite Frame

Dark graphite-stained solid wood — every member finished to the same standard as the upholstered surface, because here, the frame is on display. ::

The Pad Fitting

Cream fabric seat and back pads are made to sit flush within the wooden frame rails without gap — a precision fit that reveals skilled pad construction. ::

The H-Stretcher

The visible cross-brace beneath the seat is structural necessity presented as design detail — engineering that earns its place in the visual composition of the chair.

Frequently Asked

Before You Order

How long does it take to make the Siena Dining Chair?
6–8 weeks from order confirmation. We build one piece at a time — frame first, then upholstery, then a final hand-finish — so the timeline reflects real bench-time, not warehouse stock.
Can I customise the dimensions, leather, or wood?
Yes. Almost every dimension can be adjusted within structural limits, and the leather and wood swatches shown are starting points — speak to a designer if you'd like us to source something specific.
How does delivery work, and where do you ship?
We deliver across India with white-glove placement included. International shipping is available on request — our team will coordinate freight, customs, and last-mile placement at the destination.
What does payment look like for a custom piece?
A 50% deposit confirms the order and reserves your build slot in the atelier. The balance is due before dispatch. We'll share a transparent quote with material and labour breakdown after the consultation.
What if something needs repair years from now?
Every piece carries a lifetime craftsmanship guarantee. Reupholstery, refinishing, and frame repair are handled in-house — a piece built today can be brought back to the workshop a decade from now and restored.
