Selva Dining Table — Austins Selva Dining Table - Austins

The lathe meets the live edge. A vase-form pedestal and a natural slab top — two acts of wood craft in one statement dining table.

Turning a pedestal to this vase-form scale requires a large-capacity lathe and a craftsperson confident in the full arc of the form — from the wide belly to the narrow neck. Then the live-edge slab brings its own character: every top has a different perimeter, a different grain story. The matte black collar at the junction is the composed design moment that holds the two natural elements together without competing with either.

The Making of the Selva Dining Table

Designed by Harsha

In our Bangalore workshop, the pedestal base is turned from solid ash or oak on a large-capacity lathe — the full vase form emerging from a single block. Each live-edge slab top is then selected for grain character before the matte black collar is fitted and the metal foot ring welded and positioned for weight distribution. No two tables are identical.

01

The Live-Edge Top

Each slab is selected for grain character and natural perimeter form — no two tops share the same outline, making every table genuinely one of a kind. ::

02

The Vase Form

Lathe-turning a full vase profile at dining-table scale requires sustained, skilled tool control — each curve of the belly and neck formed in a single continuous pass. ::

03

The Black Collar

The matte black flared collar joins pedestal to top in a composed architectural transition — the precision-fitted element that holds two organic forms in dialogue.

Frequently Asked

Before You Order

How long does it take to make the Selva Dining Table?
6–8 weeks from order confirmation. We build one piece at a time — frame first, then upholstery, then a final hand-finish — so the timeline reflects real bench-time, not warehouse stock.
Can I customise the dimensions, leather, or wood?
Yes. Almost every dimension can be adjusted within structural limits, and the leather and wood swatches shown are starting points — speak to a designer if you'd like us to source something specific.
How does delivery work, and where do you ship?
We deliver across India with white-glove placement included. International shipping is available on request — our team will coordinate freight, customs, and last-mile placement at the destination.
What does payment look like for a custom piece?
A 50% deposit confirms the order and reserves your build slot in the atelier. The balance is due before dispatch. We'll share a transparent quote with material and labour breakdown after the consultation.
What if something needs repair years from now?
Every piece carries a lifetime craftsmanship guarantee. Reupholstery, refinishing, and frame repair are handled in-house — a piece built today can be brought back to the workshop a decade from now and restored.
