Botanic Chair — Austins Botanic Chair – Austins

A chair that stands out the moment it walks in.

"The contrast piping was never decorative in my mind — it was structural to the idea. That cream welt traces the whole silhouette, making the dark body read sharper, cleaner. The X-cross legs were chosen because they create an open stance that softens the visual weight of the dark shell."

The Making of the Botanic Chair

Designed by Harsha

The Botanic started as a refusal to accept that a solid, well-built chair had to look ordinary. Its X-cross metal legs and cream-piped charcoal body were designed together — each element deliberate, nothing accidental.

01

Charcoal & Cream

Dark charcoal upholstery catches light with subtle tonal shifts; cream piping runs the full perimeter — a traditional welt technique that reinforces edges and gives the silhouette a sharp, graphic outline. ::

02

Piping on the Curve

Running contrast piping along a curved back perimeter demands consistent pulling tension and precise pattern-cutting — any puckering at the corners would break the clean two-tone line the design depends on. ::

03

X-Cross Engineering

The X-cross metal sled base distributes load through crossed arms — the welds at the crossing point are critical structural junctions. Where the upholstered shell meets the base, every joint is tested for silence.

Frequently Asked

Before You Order

How long does it take to make the Botanic Chair?
6–8 weeks from order confirmation. We build one piece at a time — frame first, then upholstery, then a final hand-finish — so the timeline reflects real bench-time, not warehouse stock.
Can I customise the dimensions, leather, or wood?
Yes. Almost every dimension can be adjusted within structural limits, and the leather and wood swatches shown are starting points — speak to a designer if you'd like us to source something specific.
How does delivery work, and where do you ship?
We deliver across India with white-glove placement included. International shipping is available on request — our team will coordinate freight, customs, and last-mile placement at the destination.
What does payment look like for a custom piece?
A 50% deposit confirms the order and reserves your build slot in the atelier. The balance is due before dispatch. We'll share a transparent quote with material and labour breakdown after the consultation.
What if something needs repair years from now?
Every piece carries a lifetime craftsmanship guarantee. Reupholstery, refinishing, and frame repair are handled in-house — a piece built today can be brought back to the workshop a decade from now and restored.
