I wanted this chair to feel like stepping into another atmosphere. The barrel form wraps completely around the sitter — there is no back you can see, no frame to interrupt the velvet. The gold feet are tiny on purpose; they make the whole volume feel precious rather than massive. Velvet at this scale is unforgiving — the pile direction must be perfectly managed across every curved panel. That discipline is the craft.
The Making of the Aurelia Chair

In our Bangalore atelier, upholstering a large barrel form in directional velvet is one of the most demanding exercises we undertake. Each panel is cut to account for the pile's direction, ensuring the colour shifts uniformly as the eye travels around the curve. The result is a chair that is never quite the same shade twice.
Colour in Motion
Deep indigo pile shifts from violet to blue-lilac with every change in light — a living surface that rewards a slow, close look.
The Seamless Shell
The back curves continuously into the arms with no break, no rail, no interruption — one unbroken arc of velvet from side to side.
Gold at the Base
Two small bun feet in warm brass sit beneath the voluminous body, a deliberate jewellery-scale contrast that makes the chair feel precious.
