Telaio Dining Chair — Austins Telaio Dining Chair - Austins

Dark hardwood arms, cream leather pads, visible joinery — a dining armchair where the exposed structure is the design.

Most dining chairs hide their construction. This one shows everything — the arms, the back uprights, the base stretcher, the joinery. When you expose a frame that boldly, the joinery has to be clean enough to be decorative. The cream leather pads are simple on purpose: they are the contrast to the dark structure, not the subject. The subject is the wood.

The Making of the Telaio Dining Chair

Designed by Harsha

The frame is crafted from solid dark hardwood — arms, legs, back uprights, and cross-rail are jointed without visible fasteners, as the exposed structure is itself a decorative element. The leather back pad is panel-cut to the arched profile and fixed to the shaped back rail. The seat pad is wrapped and tacked to the underside of the seat board, then dropped into the frame — clean, removable, precise.

01

Panel-Cut Arched Leather Back

The back pad is cut to an arched profile in cream leather and fitted to the shaped back rail without wrinkling at the curve — a clean edge treatment that is visible against the dark wood surround on all sides. ::

02

Exposed Frame Joinery

The arm-to-leg and back-to-arm connections are jointed and finished without visible fasteners — because the frame is exposed, the joinery must meet a decorative standard as well as a structural one. ::

03

Dark Hardwood with Base Stretcher

The lower cross-rail between the legs adds structural rigidity and visual weight to the base — a traditional joinery element that signals solid hardwood construction and extends the visual interest of the frame down to floor level. ::

Frequently Asked

Before You Order

How long does it take to make the Telaio Dining Chair?
6–8 weeks from order confirmation. We build one piece at a time — frame first, then upholstery, then a final hand-finish — so the timeline reflects real bench-time, not warehouse stock.
Can I customise the dimensions, leather, or wood?
Yes. Almost every dimension can be adjusted within structural limits, and the leather and wood swatches shown are starting points — speak to a designer if you'd like us to source something specific.
How does delivery work, and where do you ship?
We deliver across India with white-glove placement included. International shipping is available on request — our team will coordinate freight, customs, and last-mile placement at the destination.
What does payment look like for a custom piece?
A 50% deposit confirms the order and reserves your build slot in the atelier. The balance is due before dispatch. We'll share a transparent quote with material and labour breakdown after the consultation.
What if something needs repair years from now?
Every piece carries a lifetime craftsmanship guarantee. Reupholstery, refinishing, and frame repair are handled in-house — a piece built today can be brought back to the workshop a decade from now and restored.
