Milano Bed — Austins Milano Bed – Austins

Dense grey leather channels bisected by two tall brass inlays — a bed where geometry does the decorating and precision is the only acceptable standard.

The brass strips were the breakthrough. A fully channelled headboard is beautiful but expected. Two vertical metal inlays that run the full height — flush-mounted into the leather surface — turned the channels from a texture into a composition. They divide the headboard into three defined zones without interrupting the channel rhythm across each zone. The routing tolerance for those inlays is under a millimetre. It has to be.

The Making of the Milano Bed

Designed by Harsha

The headboard frame has precision-routed channels to receive the two brass inlay strips — any gap at the metal-to-leather join line is immediately visible. Leather channels are then marked, cut, and stitched across all three headboard zones, maintaining equal width and depth throughout. The same channel pattern is built into the base side panels separately and seamed at installation.

01

Tonal Consistency in Grey Leather

Grey leather that reads uniformly across many small channel faces — each angled slightly differently — demands even dye penetration across the full hide. Any variation in saturation becomes visible in the raking light that reveals the channel geometry. ::

02

Precision Channel Width and Depth

Equal channel width and consistent depth across a wide, flat headboard requires careful marking, foam-cutting to tolerance, and stitching tension held constant throughout — any variation is geometrically obvious. ::

03

Routed Brass Inlay Mounting

The headboard frame is precision-routed with slots to receive the tall brass strips — tolerances tight enough to hold the metal flush with the leather surface without visible gaps at the join line. ::

Frequently Asked

Before You Order

How long does it take to make the Milano Bed?
6–8 weeks from order confirmation. We build one piece at a time — frame first, then upholstery, then a final hand-finish — so the timeline reflects real bench-time, not warehouse stock.
Can I customise the dimensions, leather, or wood?
Yes. Almost every dimension can be adjusted within structural limits, and the leather and wood swatches shown are starting points — speak to a designer if you'd like us to source something specific.
How does delivery work, and where do you ship?
We deliver across India with white-glove placement included. International shipping is available on request — our team will coordinate freight, customs, and last-mile placement at the destination.
What does payment look like for a custom piece?
A 50% deposit confirms the order and reserves your build slot in the atelier. The balance is due before dispatch. We'll share a transparent quote with material and labour breakdown after the consultation.
What if something needs repair years from now?
Every piece carries a lifetime craftsmanship guarantee. Reupholstery, refinishing, and frame repair are handled in-house — a piece built today can be brought back to the workshop a decade from now and restored.
