Chester Ottoman — Austins Chester Ottoman – Austins

Red, brown, ochre, and black patchwork quilting across every face. The Chester Ottoman — too magnificent to just sit on.

The patchwork is the whole point of this piece — four strong colours in a geometric arrangement across a cube form. Each colour section has to be cut precisely and joined cleanly; then the quilting stitching runs through every section, adding dimensional texture while holding the pattern together. The result is a cube that reads as a textile object first.

The Making of the Chester Ottoman

Designed by Harsha

The Chester Ottoman challenges the idea that an ottoman needs to be understated. Its four-colour patchwork quilted surface in red, brown, ochre, and black makes it the most visually assertive piece in the Austins ottomans range — a piece the brochure says you will be confused between sitting on and admiring. Both are valid responses.

01

Four-Colour Patchwork Quilted

Individual fabric sections in red, brown, ochre, and black are precision-cut and joined at clean seams to create the geometric mosaic pattern — consistency at every colour boundary maintains the visual rhythm across all six faces. ::

02

Quilting Through the Patchwork

Geometric quilting stitching runs through all colour sections simultaneously, adding dimensional texture — the stitching must follow the pattern without distorting colour boundaries or shifting the layout of the mosaic. ::

03

Cube Form Held Under Load

Dense internal foam fill and a rigid inner frame maintain the squared cube geometry when sat upon — structural integrity ensures the patchwork surface stays sharp and unwrinkled through regular use.

Frequently Asked

Before You Order

How long does it take to make the Chester Ottoman?
6–8 weeks from order confirmation. We build one piece at a time — frame first, then upholstery, then a final hand-finish — so the timeline reflects real bench-time, not warehouse stock.
Can I customise the dimensions, leather, or wood?
Yes. Almost every dimension can be adjusted within structural limits, and the leather and wood swatches shown are starting points — speak to a designer if you'd like us to source something specific.
How does delivery work, and where do you ship?
We deliver across India with white-glove placement included. International shipping is available on request — our team will coordinate freight, customs, and last-mile placement at the destination.
What does payment look like for a custom piece?
A 50% deposit confirms the order and reserves your build slot in the atelier. The balance is due before dispatch. We'll share a transparent quote with material and labour breakdown after the consultation.
What if something needs repair years from now?
Every piece carries a lifetime craftsmanship guarantee. Reupholstery, refinishing, and frame repair are handled in-house — a piece built today can be brought back to the workshop a decade from now and restored.
