The charcoal sits above the gold and the gold glows beneath it — two materials having a very quiet, very precise conversation at the exact height of your counter.
The backrest height was the most debated dimension in this stool. I kept coming back to the same conclusion: lower is more honest. A full back would have softened the architectural line; what I wanted was a horizontal pad that says 'there is support here if you need it' without compromising the slender profile from across the room. The LED under the seat was discovered when we were prototyping and the workshop light happened to catch the underside — I immediately knew it had to be designed in.

At our Bangalore atelier, the four-leg gold frame is welded to a precision that achieves rigidity through joint quality alone — no lateral bracing, no visible hardware. The dark charcoal upholstery pads are fitted to both seat and the floating backrest rail, and the LED strip is integrated into the seat frame underside before the cushion is attached.

A floating low-profile backrest pad fitted flush and precisely level between two rear uprights without visible brackets requires careful fabrication — the backrest appears to hover by design. ::

Rigidity through welded joint precision alone, no visible cross-bracing — a slender gold frame that holds its form under load because the metalwork tolerances were met, not because there is extra material.
