Avorio Pod — Austins Avorio Pod – Austins

No frame to see, no angle to find — just cream bouclé wrapped over a domed form that belongs in every room that values texture over statement.

The brief I set myself was: what is the softest thing you can make that is still a chair? The answer was to remove everything that reads as hard — no visible legs, no exposed frame, no sharp corners anywhere. The dome back and cylindrical base are wrapped continuously in bouclé as if the fabric were the structure. The texture of the bouclé does the rest: it catches light differently at every hour of the day and makes the chair feel alive in the room even when empty. Compact enough for a bedroom corner, considered enough for a living room.

The Making of the Avorio Pod

Designed by Harsha

Wrapping a continuous dome-and-cylinder form in bouclé without pile disruption at the back-to-base transition is one of the more precise upholstery challenges we take on in our Bangalore atelier. The internal moulded form must be perfect before the fabric goes on — because there is nothing else to hide behind.

01

The Seamless Pod

Dome back and cylindrical base are upholstered as one continuous form — the transition between back and base is a smooth curve, never a hard line.

02

Cream Bouclé

Looped boucle fibres in warm cream catch the light differently across the curved surface — a tactile, living texture that rewards touch as much as sight.

03

Compact and Complete

A small circular footprint makes this chair the perfect bedroom corner piece — a complete object that takes little space and gives much warmth.

Frequently Asked

Before You Order

How long does it take to make the Avorio Pod?
6–8 weeks from order confirmation. We build one piece at a time — frame first, then upholstery, then a final hand-finish — so the timeline reflects real bench-time, not warehouse stock.
Can I customise the dimensions, leather, or wood?
Yes. Almost every dimension can be adjusted within structural limits, and the leather and wood swatches shown are starting points — speak to a designer if you'd like us to source something specific.
How does delivery work, and where do you ship?
We deliver across India with white-glove placement included. International shipping is available on request — our team will coordinate freight, customs, and last-mile placement at the destination.
What does payment look like for a custom piece?
A 50% deposit confirms the order and reserves your build slot in the atelier. The balance is due before dispatch. We'll share a transparent quote with material and labour breakdown after the consultation.
What if something needs repair years from now?
Every piece carries a lifetime craftsmanship guarantee. Reupholstery, refinishing, and frame repair are handled in-house — a piece built today can be brought back to the workshop a decade from now and restored.
