For the kitchen island that deserves more than a standard stool — walnut, cream, and polished brass in a form that earns its place at bar height.
Bar stools are overlooked. Most are treated as utility — something to fill the island space. I wanted to make one that you actually pause to look at. The brass armrests were the key decision: open metal bars that frame the sitter without a padded arm cap, which would have felt too heavy at this height. The walnut slatted stretchers at the rear give the back visual interest from across the room. Three materials — each premium on its own — harmonised by a warm palette that works in any kitchen or bar.
The Making of the Latte Bar Stool
Designed by Harsha
Fitting brass armrails precisely into walnut back posts at bar height — at the right angle and the right depth for ergonomic comfort — is the key craft challenge in this stool. Our Bangalore atelier calibrates this joint carefully across every unit, because a poorly fitted arm rail at this height is felt immediately by the person sitting at the counter.
Walnut Craftsmanship
Rectangular-section walnut-stained legs splayed for stability, with horizontal wooden stretchers between the rear legs — visible joinery that tells the story of how this stool is made.
Open Brass Bars
Polished brass armrests run from the back posts to a curved front return — an open frame that offers arm support without the bulk of a padded rail.
Brass Rod Crossbar
A single polished brass rod connects the front legs at mid-height — warm, gleaming, and the most-touched surface on any bar stool.
