Positano Wingback — Austins Positano Wingback - Austins

Every button hand-pulled. Every nailhead individually placed. Every leg carved. This is the wingback in its most complete, most Bangalore form.

Diamond button-tufting is the most labour-intensive technique we practise — each button pulled through multiple layers of leather and foam to precise tension, one by one across a 4×4 grid. Add the full-perimeter nailhead trim on the arms and apron, the carved cabriole legs with their knuckle detail, and you have a chair that accounts for hundreds of hours of hand work before it leaves the atelier. Cognac leather ages into something richer over the years. That is a feature, not a flaw.

The Making of the Positano Wingback

Designed by Harsha

At our Bangalore atelier, the Orange Vachi Like begins with the leg carvers — cabriole forms shaped from dark sheesham with knuckle detail at each knee. Our upholsterers then stretch cognac leather across the wingback frame before pulling each tufting button through to tension by hand, placing nailhead after nailhead along every arm edge and front apron seam.

The Cognac Hide

Full-grain cognac leather, large premium hides selected for unbroken coverage across wings, back, and arms — material generous enough to age into character. ::

02

The Diamond Tuft

Each button is hand-pulled through leather and foam layers to consistent depth — a 4×4 grid of tension points that defines the entire back. ::

03

The Cabriole Legs

Dark sheesham legs, hand-carved at the knee with raised knuckle detail — structural members that double as ornamental sculpture.

Frequently Asked

Before You Order

How long does it take to make the Positano Wingback?
6–8 weeks from order confirmation. We build one piece at a time — frame first, then upholstery, then a final hand-finish — so the timeline reflects real bench-time, not warehouse stock.
Can I customise the dimensions, leather, or wood?
Yes. Almost every dimension can be adjusted within structural limits, and the leather and wood swatches shown are starting points — speak to a designer if you'd like us to source something specific.
How does delivery work, and where do you ship?
We deliver across India with white-glove placement included. International shipping is available on request — our team will coordinate freight, customs, and last-mile placement at the destination.
What does payment look like for a custom piece?
A 50% deposit confirms the order and reserves your build slot in the atelier. The balance is due before dispatch. We'll share a transparent quote with material and labour breakdown after the consultation.
What if something needs repair years from now?
Every piece carries a lifetime craftsmanship guarantee. Reupholstery, refinishing, and frame repair are handled in-house — a piece built today can be brought back to the workshop a decade from now and restored.
