One continuous curve. No joints in sight.
"The brief was restraint — take away everything that isn't essential and see what remains. What remains is the curve. One unbroken arc of wood that does the work of a back and two arms simultaneously. The boucle cushion is the only concession to softness, and it earns its place."
The Making of the Oak Line Chair
Designed by Harsha
The Oak Line Chair was shaped around a single idea: one continuous arc of wood, steam-bent into a smooth horseshoe that forms both the back and the arms. A cream boucle cushion sits below. Made to order in Bangalore.
Dark Walnut and Cream Boucle
The smooth, warm dark walnut frame and the looped cream boucle cushion are chosen for contrast — one grain-forward and structured, the other soft and tactile, each making the other more interesting. ::
Steam-Bent Continuous Arc
Bending a single solid wood rail into a smooth, even horseshoe curve — from one back post, over the top, and down to the other — is a demanding woodworking technique that, when done well, looks effortless. ::
Robust Rail-to-Leg Joinery
The curved back rail bears the full load of a leaning adult at the arm-to-leg junction points — robust mortise-and-tenon or dowel joinery ensures the chair holds its form under daily use.
