Tub Chair — Austins Tub Chair - Austins

Exposed walnut frame. Cognac leather. Nailhead detail at every seam — the hallmarks of a well-built chair.

The oval cutout at the top of the back is the detail that makes this chair — it functions as a carry handle, but it also punches a breath of light into what would otherwise be a solid, somewhat serious back panel. Nailhead trim is never decorative here; it marks the honest join between the leather and the wood.

The Making of the Tub Chair

Designed by Harsha

The Tub Chair draws from a tradition of English club furniture — the barrel back, the exposed frame, the studded seams — but keeps the proportions compact enough to belong almost anywhere. A chair that rewards being examined closely.

01

Inset Leather Panels

Tan cognac leather precisely sized to sit within the frame rebate — back and seat panels must fit flush, no gaps, no overhang, with natural grain variation adding warmth to every piece. ::

02

Nailhead by Hand

Individual bronze studs are hand-spaced and driven along every leather-to-frame seam — consistent even spacing at the back perimeter, arm scrolls, and seat border requires patience and a steady eye. ::

03

The Continuous Arc

The arm rail sweeps in one unbroken curve from back to front leg — achieved through careful joinery or steam-bending of solid walnut to maintain the arc without visible breaks.

Frequently Asked

Before You Order

How long does it take to make the Tub Chair?
6–8 weeks from order confirmation. We build one piece at a time — frame first, then upholstery, then a final hand-finish — so the timeline reflects real bench-time, not warehouse stock.
Can I customise the dimensions, leather, or wood?
Yes. Almost every dimension can be adjusted within structural limits, and the leather and wood swatches shown are starting points — speak to a designer if you'd like us to source something specific.
How does delivery work, and where do you ship?
We deliver across India with white-glove placement included. International shipping is available on request — our team will coordinate freight, customs, and last-mile placement at the destination.
What does payment look like for a custom piece?
A 50% deposit confirms the order and reserves your build slot in the atelier. The balance is due before dispatch. We'll share a transparent quote with material and labour breakdown after the consultation.
What if something needs repair years from now?
Every piece carries a lifetime craftsmanship guarantee. Reupholstery, refinishing, and frame repair are handled in-house — a piece built today can be brought back to the workshop a decade from now and restored.
